Yontec'er Mimoun: If you feel 100% good in your job, I think everything comes naturally.

What makes Yontec so punishing? All the bright minds and ingenious fingers who impress our customers every day. Mimoun is one such person. This 50-year-old from Genk has been working with us for almost four years as an electrical and mechanical maintenance technician. A job he takes on with enormous enthusiasm. So much enthusiasm that even the foremen fight over him.

"Mimoun, are you Muslim?"

"However, I was very close to not working at Yontec. Because of back problems I had to quit my previous employer. After a few applications, I was able to start at Yontec as well as somewhere else. But Yontec played much closer to the ball and I'm still happy about that."

"I immediately got a good feeling when I first walked in. So I quickly became acquainted with Davy Jonckers. After a brief introduction, he asked me offhand if I was Muslim. I looked surprised. And then he said Mimoun, the annual barbecue is coming up soon. Should I provide halal food for you and your family? That was really a warm welcome, something I'll never forget."

Speech of the foreman

In recent years, Mimoun has worked for different types of clients. A chocolate machine manufacturer, a cosmetics firm, a company that fills plastic bottles with shampoo... "That variety is interesting, but also challenging. After all, a new company also means a new foreman, with a different way of handling things."

"But so far it has always worked out very well. When my job at the chocolate factory was over, all the colleagues even came by to thank me personally. The foreman came off with coffee cakes and a speech. A foreman at another company preferred to keep me until he retired. And at one point a customer even tried to pry me loose from another customer (laughs)."

"When I feel good, nothing is too much."

"How that comes about? When you feel 100% good in your job, I think everything comes naturally. I really enjoy my job and try to laugh as often as possible. For me, nothing is too much. I would even come to work for free one day, so to speak."

Plenty in the remodeling works

What punishing antics does Mimoun perform outside of work hours? "To be honest, I don't get out much lately. We've been heavily remodeling at home for a year and a half now. New walls, windows, electricity, putting up a completely new outbuilding... A lot of work has gone into that. When I do get a chance to relax, I immediately turn on the Discovery Channel."
